BANT Registered Nutritionist specialising in PCOS support for women who want a gentler, more sustainable approach

Online nutrition advice, Altrincham, Cheshire, Manchester, UK
Lisa Smith, online hormone nutritionist, Altrincham, Cheshire, Manchester, UK

Hi, I'm Lisa

My work is about helping you feel more at home in your body.

Many women I speak to tell me they feel like they’ve tried everything on their own. They’ve read the books, scrolled through advice online, changed their food, exercised more, tried to “push through” and still feel stuck.

If that’s you, I want you to know this:
You are not doing anything wrong.
Your body simply needs a different kind of support.

My approach is gentle and evidence-based. I help you understand what’s really going on in your hormones and metabolism, and we make small, steady adjustments that are manageable in real life. Nothing too restrictive. Nothing too extreme, and certainly no pressure to be perfect.

My story

I’m a BANT Registered Nutritionist and CNHC Registered nutrition practitioner, with over a decade of experience supporting women with PCOS, hormone imbalance, energy and metabolic health.

I work with women online across the UK, using a functional, root-cause approach to explore factors such as:
• Blood sugar balance
• Gut health
• Stress and nervous system support
• Inflammation
• Nutrient intake and absorption
• Hormone signalling and cycle patterns

I focus on helping you understand why symptoms are showing up, so we can make changes that feel purposeful and supportive.

When we work together, you can expect:
• A calm, structured plan
• Weekly guidance and encouragement
• Food that feels enjoyable and satisfying
• Practical adjustments that fit around your life
• A steady pace that supports real progress and consistency

I care deeply about the women I work with. You’ll be listened to. You’ll be understood and you’ll be supported. My role isn’t to tell you what you should be doing. It’s to walk alongside you as you rebuild trust in your body and discover what actually helps you feel your best.

Outside of work, I live in Cheshire, South Manchester. I’m married with two grown-up children and love spending time outdoors, especially walking my dog.

I also enjoy being in the garden, growing micro-greens, herbs, vegetables and flowers. I’m a real foodie so cooking is also big part of my life.

An avid reader, I believe in lifelong learning, whether it’s keeping up with the latest nutrition research or trying new skills.

For me, good health is about balance, enjoyment, and nourishing both body and mind.

If you’re ready to feel more in control of your health, I’d love to support you. You can explore my 12-week PCOS programme, join the Hormone Shift membership hub, or book a free no-obligation Zoom or phone call to start your own plan.

What can a nutritionist help with?

A nutritionist can help with a range of issues, including intimate health, weight management, digestive health, hormone imbalances, managing chronic conditions like PCOS or Endometriosis, and improving overall energy and wellbeing. They provide personalised advice based on your unique health needs.

Do I need a referral to see a nutritionist?

No referral is needed. You can book directly with a nutritionist to start improving your health at any time.

What’s the difference between a nutritionist and a dietitian?

Both offer advice on diet and health, but dietitians work in clinical settings and are regulated by law. Nutritionists focus on personalised, holistic approaches and are often experts in lifestyle and functional medicine.

What should I expect in my first consultation?

Your first session will include a detailed discussion about your health history, lifestyle, and goals. Your nutritionist will provide initial recommendations and outline a personalised plan tailored to your needs.

Do you offer personalised meal plans?

Yes! Meal plans are tailored to your goals, preferences, and any dietary requirements or allergies, with easy recipes to fit your lifestyle.

Can you help with hormone-related issues like PCOS?

Absolutely. I specialise in hormonal health and can help manage symptoms like weight gain, cravings, and low energy through targeted nutrition and lifestyle changes.

Are online consultations as effective as in-person ones?

Yes, online consultations are just as effective. They offer convenience and flexibility, with the same level of personalisation and support.

Do you provide support with weight loss medications like Ozempic?

Yes, I offer guidance on managing nutrition during and after using medications like Ozempic to support sustainable weight loss and long-term health.

Can I book one-off sessions, or do I need a programme?

Both options are available. While programmes provide ongoing support for lasting results, one-off sessions are perfect for addressing specific concerns or getting a quick health reset.

How do I know if I need functional health testing?

If you experience unresolved symptoms like recurrent UTI's or vaginal infections like thrush, digestive issues, or hormonal imbalances, testing can provide insights to create a more targeted plan. Your nutritionist will guide you on whether testing is right for you.
